Yes, to become a resident with us you must be aged 60 or over, reside in the City of Nottingham or the Boroughs of Broxtowe, Gedling or Rushcliffe and be receiving, or be eligible to receive Housing Benefit, Council Tax Credit, or the equivalent benefits from Universal Credit. You must also able to live independently. Please note that Collins Homes do not accept pets, with the exception of guide/assistance dogs, or caged birds and fish.
Rent is paid in the form of a combined charge and known as a weekly maintenance contribution. This consists of two elements, the maintenance element is the equivalent of rent and is eligible for housing benefit. The costs of gas and electricity are also included in your weekly maintenence contribution. Water and Sewerage charges are paid for by the charity and there is no charge to residents. There is also a concessionary TV licence included, which covers the entire site. For a one bedroom bungalow, you would expect to pay a weekly maintenance charge of £108.25pw and for a two bedroomed house, or larger bungalow a weekly maintenance charge of £122.75 pw. This is collected every 4 weeks by standing order payment.
To reside within Collins Homes you must be able to look after your own personal needs and not need regular or frequent help with personal care, food, cleaning or laundry, or frequent help with personal care.

There is a regular bus service to both Derby and Nottingham directly outside the site. Nearby Beeston also has a local shopping centre and can be reached by bus, or on foot if you are a keen walker
We are very lucky to have had a brand new recreational hall refurbished and extended in 2020. This is for the use of residents and the Independent Living Coordinator hosts regular activities, such as bingo, coffee mornings and quiz evenings. We also have a hairdresser who visits the site once a week. Books can be borrowed from the hall.
Unfortunately we do not allow pets, with the exception of caged birds, fish, or guidance and assistance dogs.

If you meet the criteria, you will be put on a waiting list if no sutiable properties are available. Applicants are required to provide two references, proof of age and identification. An interview is carried out by a trustee and the administrator, after which recommendation is made to the Board of Trustees and you will be informed of a decision within a few days.
